Welcome to my practice.

“Clients don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care,” my old supervisor always used to tell me. I think this truth is the heart of what makes good psychotherapy. My goal first and foremost is to establish a genuine human to human connection with my clients, I strive to be as authentic, curious and open as possible. I see us working together in an equal and collaborative relationship toward resolving concerns that bring you here- I believe such a relationship is both a prerequisite and a contributing factor to psychological growth.

I see mental health as more than just a collection of symptoms that need to be treated. Mental health includes issues of identity such as how we see and understand ourselves, how we relate to others, how we experience fulfillment or lack thereof and how confident we are in our ability to address and overcome adversity. It is also deeply impacted by our feelings, emotions, relationships, external and internal environments, spirituality, unconscious beliefs, practical skills, resources and somatic/physiological reactions to stressors. I believe treatment means understanding and treating you as a full human being- mind, body, heart, and soul. It extends past just treating your “symptoms” or diagnosis.

I welcome diversity and am well educated in systems of oppression including racism, homophobia, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, and intersections of the above. I recognize the profound impact of these experiences and see them as an important part of our day-to-day experience. As an immigrant from Bulgaria, I have personal experience with the host of challenges that come up with living in the United States with a different culture of origin.
