Domestic Violence

With a background of facilitating probation approved BIP (Batterer’s Intervention Programs), I understand the profound challenges associated with domestic violence. Whether you’re the person who causes harm, or as the survivor, or a blend of both, my aim is to provide a compassionate and judgmental space for your journey toward healing.

Domestic violence inherently carries a heavy burden of shame, guilt, and trauma; affecting individuals on both sides of the relationship. Regardless of role, I acknowledge and validate these inherent struggles and foster an environment where judgement is replaced with understanding.

I view domestic violence as a symptom of a deeper underlying attachment trauma. In lay person’s terms, this means that it is a very bad way of trying to solve a very human problem- disconnection, unmet relational needs, lack of communication skills, and childhood trauma.

My approach to treatment of domestic violence is tailored to the individual, acknowledging its various manifestations from one person or couple to another. This may include developing effective communication skills, addressing childhood trauma, teaching healthy boundaries. For individuals who cause harm, there is an emphasis on personal accountability without blame or judgement, and anger management. For survivors, there is a focus on identifying red flags and safety planning.
